LIFE IN LAGOS
Sleeping sweet: the divine stress management therapy!
Staying in Lagos actively for the past few months now has
really opened
my eyes to so many things about this life and God's plan!
It is only in a place like Lagos that you'll wake up as
early as 3:30-4am,to set out on your journey to VI/Lekki axis
only for you to still see the number of vehicles that will
flood the road, also planning with you to avoid the hectic
traffic which is to come soon if you don't move fast enough!
My most annoying experience was a day I left
Abule egba at 5:46am only get to my office in VI at
exactly 8:46 am!. 3hours of standing all through inside the 2 BRT buses I entered,so uncomfortable and so painful!
Just to go to my PPA o......
I got so angry that day and I had to say to myself,,,what a life???

I got so angry that day and I had to say to myself,,,what a life???
What a life of stress,
What a display of corporate and official hustling!
Ofcourse to Lagosians, this is simply another day on the calendar,a normal daily routine,
a simple going out and coming in to make ends meat!
So a typical person leaving his/her house as early as past 4am only to get back home around 9pm,
even if he/she gets something to eat immediately, all of his rest will be terminated around 3:30am again......
.and this happens daily except on Sundays for those who do not love money too much!!!
So tell me,how else can I define stress than a typical Lagos lifestyle,,,,yet,,,,all this doesn't guarantee good
success indeed! Thousands of people go through this hustling cycle of Lagos everyday
,yet how many are rich enough now?
How many of them can really tell you that hustling directly equals to success?
So the waking up early,,standing inside BRT for hours, with suit and tie,or Jean and sneakers,
all joined together still doesn't amount to much, yet all that is made is spent on food and upkeep leaving
you with nothing much to save!.....
I never knew this hustling lifestyle has been clearly pictured in the Bible long time ago until I stumble on
it last night while arguing with a friend in Ps.127v2a (Living Bible version) which stated it directly that:
"it is senseless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, fearing you will starve to death;"
..........!can you just see the word of God,so clear and precise!
See this is not a post to embrace laziness or castigate any existing culture of hardwork, its simply an eye opener
to God's plan for us which complete states that hard work does not and will never completely equates to good
success if God is not standby, watching and guiding all the proceedings all along!!!. It is to tell us that He is not
interested in the hustling life that doesn't yield much fruits because the second part of that scripture say:
" for God wants his loved ones to get their proper rest."
.........so why will He be interested in making you go through unnecessary stress that doesn't change your
standard of living???
It was in this verse that I now fully understand what God was saying in the first verse of that chapter which says
"if the Lord doesn't build the house" (Ps.127:1) all our expertise,
all the sleepless nights of the best architect,
all the experience of the best builders,
all the craftiness of the people doing POP and other exterior finishes......is a waste, completely useless!!!
So if all the waking up as early as possible and getting home as late as odd hours of the day is outside
God's plan for you,,,,then am sorry, you are just on your way to a fruitless life, revolving and cycling in
endless hustling!
So my dear brothers and sisters, let us therefore walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise (Eph.5:15).
Let us not be carried away with our job descriptions and prestige so to say that will make us forget that
it is only "the blessing of the Lord that
maketh rich with no single traces whatsoever of sorrow in any way" (Prov.10:22)!
Therefore,"let us not be fools, but be interested in understanding what the will of the Lord is for us" (Eph.5:17).
So that when we take ordinary afternoon nap,we will not worry (message translation) and thy sleep shall be
sweet (KJV) Prov.3:24.
Thanks and God bless you real good!!!
